HG Motorsport oversized coil set specifically for 1.4 T-Jet engines installed in Abarth, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo.
FEATURES:
- Better ignition (approximately 10% better than OEM coils)
- Greater thermal stability (continuous operation up to 120°C and stable up to 140°C)
- Reliable performance under extreme conditions
- Improved spark
- Longer life (quality construction materials)
The diagram shows the higher ignition energy of HG-Motorsport ignition coils compared to standard components:
- Up to 1.5 ms: Both coil types deliver comparable energy.
- Starting from 2.0 ms: The energy of standard ignition coils decreases significantly, while HG-Motorsport ignition coils deliver consistently high values.
- At 3.0 ms: HG-Motorsport ignition coils deliver almost 25% more energy, a key factor at high speeds and in high-performance engines.
Even at a temperature of 140°C, the ignition energy of HG-Motorsport ignition coils remains stable (70 mJ), while OE coils already fail or reach critical values.
Ideal for these applications:
- High-performance engines: optimal ignition even under extreme loads
- Motorsport and Trackdays: Stability and constant energy in continuous operation
- Everyday engine with improved performance: Improved ignition efficiency and stability in everyday use
- Replacement for OEM ignition coils: increased reliability and longer life
Structure and function of the winding
The ignition coils work with an optimized primary and secondary coil structure.
The primary winding generates a strong magnetic field which, when it collapses, induces a high voltage in the secondary winding.
Thanks to the increased number of windings and improved insulation, constant ignition energy is guaranteed even at high speeds and load peaks.
Thermal tests and long-term results
1. Continuous thermal stress:
- Test setup: continuous operation at 120°C with simulated load cycles exceeding 100 hours
- Result: no reduction in performance and no thermal degradation of the HG-Motorsport ignition coils
- Comparison: Original equipment (OE) ignition coils lost approximately 25% of their energy after 50 hours, followed by initial material changes.
Additional test at 140°C:
- HG-Motorsport: Stable operation for over 8 hours without failure
- OE ignition coils: Power drop up to 40% after 4 hours, followed by thermal failure
