After a vigorous program of development and testing on the road and track, Airtec is proud to announce the launch of their AIRTEC Motorsport Gear Shifter range.
These shifters have been carefully designed to improve the gear shifting experience, offering a massive 40% reduction in throw distance to significantly reduce shift time. But the shifter doesn't just reduce throw; it dramatically improves feel and is guaranteed to enhance your driving experience.
What It Does
The shifter completely eliminates any sluggish movement from the gear lever, resulting in perfect, positive, and precise shifts. The raised gear lever also allows shifts to feel more natural. The positive effect of this more confident gear shifting action is the removal of any worries about selecting the correct gear, allowing you to focus on other aspects of driving—a huge advantage on the track or road.
How It Works
Where an OEM gear lever focuses naturally but with little resistance, the AirTEC Motorsport shifter features a heavy, spring-loaded mechanism to self-center it. The lever travel can also be fine-tuned to minimize shifting movements, ensuring no sluggishness. The reverse gear can only be selected by lifting the collar, ensuring it cannot be selected accidentally. There is also the option to lock out certain gears for competition use.
Fit
Installation requires no modifications or changes to the car's clutch or transmission, and is a direct-fit part that is completely reversible, so there are no additional mounts or brackets to cut, weld, or install. The center console can still be retained, and the shifter uses the existing gear cables and linkages. The complete kit comes complete with a range of Allen keys for fitting/adjusting the shifter.
Construction
The shifter is constructed in two parts; the base and tower are made of 3mm laser-grade stainless steel, finished in black powder-coated steel, to ensure the shifter remains completely rigid and does not flex during heavy use. The upper gear section, shift lever, and gear knob are CNC-machined from high-strength 7075 aerospace-grade aluminum, finished in black anodized, while the shifters are hand-assembled at AIRTEC Motorsport headquarters.
To customize the look of the shifter to your car, the gear knobs are available in a range of colors:

PLEASE NOTE:
The shifters require installation during the assembly process and will require maintenance, such as lubrication. Full instructions can be found here.
The Toyota Yaris GR requires a minor cut on the underside of the center console that cannot be seen once in place.
